The donkey orders a drink, while the elephant just stands there. ''What's wrong with you?'' asks the donkey. The elephant replies, ''I can't decide whether to get totally blitzed or shut the place down in the name of the Lord.''

What is your earliest memory?
My earliest memory, I swear, is the moon landing, though I was only 2 years old. Maybe it was a later landing. I just remember sitting on the landing of some outside stairs to a house on stilts on the beach in Cape Canaveral and another kid was with me teaching me how to blow bubble gum. Through the screen door, all the grownups were all gathered around the TV for some big event and I just remember it being about the moon.

What was your first political protest/demonstration/rally? How old were you?
My freshman year in high school, my mom took me with a big group on a chartered bus from Sarasota, Fla to Tallahassee for the huge march on the capital to try and encourage the state to pass the Equal Rights Amendment. It was an amazing experience.

Have you ever been a member of another political party besides your current party?
Never.

What is your favorite ice cream?
Any variation that has chocolate in it, though Hank's Ice Cream in Grant Park has an awesome Banana Pudding Ice Cream...

Peter Trigg, Newspaperman and Yellow Dog Democrat, Dies at 61
I wanted to self-indulge and post the obituary I wrote for my beloved father. In addition to the information below, he was a die-hard Democrat and, along with my mom, was a role model for my political activism. This past Tuesday, when he alarmed some medical staff with some hallucinatory stuff from the drugs being administered to him, he was asked some standard questions (name, residence, etc), which he knew, and they then asked him who the President of the United States was, and my dad, in classic fashion, and growing more exasperated by all these simple questions, replied with a groan: "Oh God, you're not going to make me talk about him are you?"

His D&E profile: http://www.adonkeyandanelephantwalkintoabar.com/ptrigg/

Peter Johnston Trigg, of Sarasota, Florida, a lifelong newspaperman, died after battling lung cancer for 3 1/2 months at the M.D. Anderson Clinic in Orlando, Florida, at 4:40 P.M. on June 9, 2007, at the age of 61. He retired in September, 2001, after working 27 years for the New York Times (NYT), thirteen of those for the Times-owned paper, the Sarasota Herald Tribune. ... Read More

Facebook and D/E Integration
OK, Facebook has launched a whole new platform today that will allow us to integrate more fully with your Facebook profile. For instance, we can have a D/E pane show on your profile page. What would you like to see from D/E "pushed" onto/made visible there? Any ideas?
