Why is the question whether blacks will support Obama?

Submitted from Successful African-American:

Why is the question whether blacks will support Obama? The real question is whether a majority of the people in SC will support Obama.

In past elections, I NEVER heard anyone ask whether cowboys from Texas would support GW, whether philanderers would support Bill Clinton, or whether oil conglomerates would support Ross Perot. I am so sick of this race/gender fallacy that has been perpetuated by the media. Why is it that black people and women have to be so monolithic in their thinking that we can only vote one way or the other. I hate that.

It seems that the race questions are really part of a larger divide and conquer conspiracy. Hillary isn't even in SC. She sent Bill because of his alleged pull with the African American community. I must not be part of that community because I never liked Bill. All you have to do is look at the Welfare Reform Act, the discrepancy in sentencing between crack and powdered cocaine (a gap which is now being lessened by the powers that be in Washington), and the fact that GW has appointed more blacks and other minorities to positions of power than the Clinton's ever did. And let me not get started on Clinton's Arkansas affairs. I'm not lessening the impact of his positive nationwide programs, but in terms of day-to-day, what affects black people in the real-world sense, Bill was not the black man's best friend.

We [meaning black people] love to be entertained, and Clinton is lucky he is charismatic and plays the saxophone. To me, it parallels the likes of black preachers who are entertaining their parishioners all the way to hell [to paraphrase a quote from Louis Farrakhan] Keep 'em shouting, smiling, and dancing, while you don't do anything substantive to improve their quality of life.

My 2008 Presidential Candidate: Barack Obama
I love Senator Barack Obama! In my opinion he is the only choice for President in 2008. Each time I hear him speak I more impressed than the last. Today I had the privilege to sit behind him as he addressed the Greenville community at Furman University. His message is consistent and I stand behind him as being a candidate with "Change We Can Believe In".

It was a great honor to be on stage with Senator Obama and I was over joyed when he shook my hand. In the midst of an extremely busy schedule he was still personable and took time to recognize each of us that sat on the stage. I was pleased that my mom shared the day with me! Big thanks to my friend Kristi who captured the day! If you have the opportunity to vote please Vote for Barack Obama! Its broken, let's fix it!

Fired Up! Ready to Go! Barack Obama my 2008 Presidential Candidate!... Read More
