If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. --Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Tree hugger. Community advocate. South-side Atlantan (represent!). I currently work in the District Office of Congressman John Lewis. Before that I was a community organizer with Sierra Club (here), MoveOn in Milwaukee, and a canvass director in Salt Lake City. I have a wonderful husband, Matt, and a crazy American Black & Tan Coonhound, Elmer.

What was the last movie you watched? And how was it?
What does it take to be a part of your friends network?
What was your first political protest/demonstration/rally? How old were you?
my first political experience was a college summer in 2000 at a nader rally in chicago where eddie vedder sang the song below. later that year i would take a face full of pepper spray for ralph at a protest in st louis--thus would end my love affair with third party candidates (and protests). the song was stuck in my brain though, particularly after the word patriot was hijacked in ensuing years. while i for damn sure don't credit the pearl jam frontman for my professional career, i do wonder sometimes who i'd be working for if i hadn't ended up in chicago that night.
What really makes you happy?
Communities united, knowledgable, and acting in the best interest of each other.
Fat smiling babies in striped footie pajamas
Dairy (butter, any and all types of cheese, ice cream, bovines)
Old-timey tchotchkes, music, notions
Fourth of July fireworks, sundresses, blankets and beer
Have you ever been a member of another political party besides your current party?
I come from a long line of Pentecostal right-wingers which makes holidays during election years very interesting. During the 200 election I was working in a swing state for Kerry while my little brother worked in another swing state for Bush.
Who is your favorite candidate/elected official? (can be alive or dead)
